Superstar wide receiver Antonio Brown has been the safest fantasy star over the last couple of years. That was until Michael Vick replaced the injured Ben Roethlisberger as quarterback on the Pittsburgh Steelers a few weeks ago. Brown went thirty-five consecutive games with at least fifty receiving yards but has failed to reach that number in both games Vick has started.
Brown spoke out and told the media this week that Vick needs to be more aggressive in the passing game. As a veteran in possibly his final stint as a starter, Vick has taken a conservative approach. Brown said he told Vick to trust him more and take some chances throwing him the deep ball. It’s hard to disagree with Brown’s assessment. Coming into the season, most would have selected him as the best wide receiver in the league and Vick is wasting the valuable weapon.
Luckily, fantasy owners will likely only have to go one more week with the Vick issue as Brown should have Roethlisberger back very soon. Big Ben is recovering well from his knee injury and participated in limited practices this week. Expect him back next week against the poor Kansas City Chiefs pass defense. Brown, Martavis Bryant and Heath Miller will all see their value significantly rise with Roethlisberger on the field again. Until then, hopefully Vick takes Brown’s advice this week and gets the best of his most talented receiver.
