Week 5 Quarterback (QB) Rankings Analysis
By Zach Wilkens (@LopsidedTrades)
I saw enough from Drew Brees last week to put him in my top 5 QBs this week. It looked like the week off really did help him, and he was playing like the Brees of old with 80% completion rate and 350+ yards (even though 80 of that came on the final play). Start him this week!
After a slight down week I remain an optimist on Tyrod Taylor. Tennessee has actually been a pretty tough opponent for fantasy QBs so far, but Taylor continues to offer a lot of upside with his mobility. He is in my top ten (although only just, at QB10).
On the low side, I am four spots lower than consensus on Matthew Stafford (QB24) versus the Cardinals and six spots lower on Derek Carr (QB26) against the Broncos. These are both just brutal matchups I’m looking to avoid in any way possible.
The Cardinals are giving up the 4th fewest points to QBs, while the Broncos allow the fewest. After seeing Stafford manage just eight and nine points the last two weeks in similarly tough matchups, I’ll be shocked if he is much better here.
