Andre Johnson – WR, IND
FootballOutsiders has DVOA (defense adjusted value over average) and DYAR (defense adjusted yards above replacement) grades for 74 WRs to date. They have Johnson graded as the 74th receiver in both DVOA & DYAR. His 7-51-0 line through three weeks looks as unimpressive on paper as Johnson looked earning it. With his targets and snap shares falling each of the first three weeks, concern for Johnson should be quite high.
In parallel news, teammate Donte Moncrief’s snap share has increased every week and appears to have solidly taken over as the team’s WR2. His 17-200-3 line on 26 targets is especially impressive when you consider he started the season third on the depth chart.
Maybe Johnson finds some youth, connects with the team’s scheme better, or does whatever he needs to do to string together a few fantasy relevant games. It appears already clear though he’ll be doing so as the team’s third receiver, and cannot be relied on every week. He may even be droppable in shallow leagues.
Roddy White – WR, ATL
After putting up a 4-84 line on eight targets in Week One, Roddy White has disappeared entirely, garnering zero targets since. I glanced around at a few metrics on a few sites and no one seems overly down on Roddy White’s performance, so I can’t fully explain this.
I have a friend that used to joke (before Julio Jones was drafted that) Roddy White was Matt Ryan’s first, second, third, and fifth look. Maybe Matt Ryan just refocused his old Roddy White glasses for Julio Jones. Maybe it’s been game-plan or matchup oriented. I really don’t know.
I still have faith Roddy White will begin his annual “I’m not dead yet” campaign at some point. He should definitely be on fantasy benches for the time being though, and it may be tough to continue to look at those zeros on your bench.
Jonathan Stewart – RB, CAR
Jonathan Stewart’s lack of touchdowns and explosive plays have somewhat limited his fantasy production to date, but owners would do well to realize he is on pace for over 1,000 yards from scrimmage.
I’m still bullish on Jonathan Stewart’s rest of season outlook, but his trajectory could go either way quickly at this point. With his highest weekly fantasy finish as RB28 in Week one, he should left on fantasy benches for now.
