Minnesota Vikings wide receiver Charles Johnson will miss Sunday's Week 4 game against the Denver Broncos due to a rib injury. Johnson sat out practice on Friday and was officially ruled out later in the day by the team.
The Vikings WR depth could be further in question with Jarius Wright also listed as questionable for Sunday's game. Mike Wallace will start as the #1 WR and Cordarrelle Patterson will likely take Johnson's spot on the opposite side. Minnesota's passing game has been very disappointing through three weeks as quarterback Teddy Bridgewater has started the season off poorly and no Vikings wider receiver has yet to catch a touchdown. You can't feel comfortable starting any Minnesota WR vs. the tremendous Denver defense this week.
Highly touted in the preseason as a likely breakout star this season, many drafted Johnson earlier than desired in traditional drafts expecting big things from the explosive receiver. Johnson is averaging just 2 receptions and 15.3 yards per game, becoming a hindrance on fantasy rosters. You should plan on benching Johnson in Minnesota's tough matchup vs. the Broncos defense. With the injury, he becomes a player you have to consider dropping this week if you need a better WR from the waiver wire.
