Week 4 Tight End (TE) Rankings Analysis
By Zach Wilkens (@LopsidedTrades)
Tyler Eifert did post a goose egg last week but as many of you know, he just barely missed a touchdown based on the ref's interpretation of the catch rule. He still makes a great play this week and should be in all lineups.
With Jimmy Clausen starting I have a really hard time trusting Martellus Bennett. I have him at TE8, and if you own him he is most likely your best option, but if I am a Bennett owner I want Jay Cutler to return in the worst way. On the bright side this is a great matchup, as the Raiders have allowed the most fantasy points to opposing tight ends, including at least one touchdown in every game. Let’s hope Jimmy Clausen can help continue that.
I’ve been impressed with Eric Ebron so far, and even in a tough matchup against the Seahawks I have him at TE13. Much like last week vs the Broncos, there is a high chance that Calvin Johnson and Golden Tate will struggle to get a ton of yardage. That will leave more opportunities for Ebron who had four catches for 61 yards last week. I expect similar numbers in Week 4. It’s not great but it’s certainly usable.
With Rob Gronkowski sadly on bye his owners will have to look elsewhere this week. Charles Clay, Zach Ertz and Ladarius Green are my TE9-11. There is a good chance one of them is available in your league. Green in particular should be widely available after missing time with a concussion. This is the last week Green will get to play without Antonio Gates, and it looks like he will be good to go. I think he makes the most of this opportunity and can give you a solid day.
