BALLER MOVE: Pick up in deep or AL-Only leagues
OWNED: 33% of Fleaflicker leagues
ANALYSIS: Prior to the 2015 season, very few thought Brock Holt was an option to represent the Boston Red Sox in the all-star game. Even fewer thought it would be only Brock Holt. The young jack-of-all-trades earned the honor, though, and did so with a solid first half in which he hit .292 with a pair of HR and 22 RBI. While those number aren't great from a fantasy perspective, digging deeper on Holt reveals a .324 wOBA and a wRC+ of 103 suggesting he has been in the top half of all hitters in 2015. Couple that with eligibility at three different positions (2B, 3B, OF) and Holt becomes a much more appealing prospect on the waiver wire than his basic stat line suggests. He has struggled since the all-star break, hitting only .211 in 16 second half games, but the 27-year-old has shown flashes of brilliance in 2015 (he hit for the cycle in June) and seems to possess the makeup of a solid utility player capable of filling holes throughout a fantasy lineup. Whether it be a spot start or a long term plug-in, Holt is worth monitoring on the wire.
