Dodgers, Blue Jays, Astros, Rangers Gunning For Tyson Ross

Tyson Ross is slowly becoming one of the more sawed off pitchers during the MLB Trade Deadline. The Blue Jays, Astros, Dodgers and Rangers are gunning for the Padres starting pitcher, according to CBS Sports.

Ross, 28, is under contract through 2017, which makes his services more tempting because he won’t be on his new team for only a few months. The right-hander is 6-8 with a 3.45 ERA and 132 strikeouts in 122.2 innings pitched. The San Diego starter is well on his way to a 200-K plus season this year. Ross boasts a 3.05 ERA and 9.2 K/9 in 318 1/3 innings since the beginning of the 2014 season.

The Padres are 47-52 and 8.5 games out of first place in the NL West behind both the San Francisco Giants and Los Angeles Dodgers. The Padres could be big sellers as the July 31 trade deadline approaches.

Dodgers: Ever since entering into a period of new management, they’ve been buyers and not afraid to take a chance on any player. Ross would help fill the question marks of starters after Clayton Kershaw and Zack Greinke.

Blue Jays: Toronto possesses the highest scoring offense in MLB but desperately needs better pitching. Ross would instantly become the team’s best pitcher for a team that is three games back of the second Wild Card spot in the AL.

Astros: Houston already made a big splash when it traded for Scott Kazmir prior to the weekend. The Astros have a great one-two punch with Kazmir and Dallas Keuchel, and Ross would only help them to retake the AL west from the Angels or hold onto the first Wild Card spot.

Rangers: Texas is three games below .500 and 4.5 games back in the Wild Card standings. The Rangers could use a starting pitcher with Yu Darvish out for the year due to Tommy John surgery. It wouldn’t be a shocker to see them land Ross or another big-time starting pitcher.
