For seasoned followers of Tottenham Hotspur (Spurs) last season was pretty much par for the course. A Europe League finish but never any real prospect of that break through back into the Champions League.
At least the Manager was finally able to identify the players acquired before his arrival that have a future at White Hart Lane and those that clearly do not. A number of squad players have been shipped out for 2015-2016 already and we expect more departures to follow.

Last season of course was notable for Harry Kane's explosion onto the global soccer scene. Kane is, ironically, a prodigy of former Manager Tim Sherwood. Kane scored 29 goals last season in all competitions, but will find it difficult to repeat those exploits especially when the EPL coaches will all have had plenty of time to work out a plan to nullify him.
If one, or both, of Roberto Soldado or Emmanuel Adebayor move on then look for Spurs to invest heavily in replacements. Those recently linked with potential moves to Spurs have in recent times included Christian Benteke now heading for Liverpool, Saido Berahino and Jay Rodriguez. Kane of course will be the leading man and will continue to score goals, but might in fantasy terms be a little rich for what we expect him to produce this season.
Goalkeeper Hugo Lloris is out with a wrist injury whilst defensively Spurs have acquired Toby Alderweireld and Kieran Trippier; who were both stellar performers in the EPL last season for Southampton & Burnley respectively.
In Midfield Christian Eriksen and Chris Mason both look to be regular starters this season. It remains to be seen if there is a future for Erik Lamela, and Belgian internationals Moussa Dembele & Nacer Chadli. Likewise England internationals Aaron Lennon and Andros Townsend have both been subject to speculation as to their futures. We feel Townsend in particular still has a role at the club and could do well given more first team action.
Spurs always seem to leave their transfer business to the last moment with Chairman Daniel Levy ready to play hardball both in terms of buying and selling, a policy that has occasionally backfired. Spurs season will very much depend on the next couple weeks before transfer deadline day. Any new arrivals should be considered as possible fantasy assets, as they are likely to be acquired with a view to immediate first team action.
Prediction: Europa League again (6th)
Players to watch: Toby Alderweireld (Defender), Christian Eriksen (Midfield)
