FanDuel DFS – MLB Lineup Picks, Sleepers and Advice for 7/7/15

There are seventeen games scheduled on Tuesday, July 7th thanks to a pair of doubleheaders. I'm going to concentrate just on tonight's slate for rostering's sake, though. Trying to predict lineups and where rain might actually put a game in danger is just too tough a task at noon.

Editor's Note: If you play on FanDuel, you should also check out RotoBaller’s DFS Partner DraftKings - they're hosting a one-day Fantasy Baseball league tonight. It's FREE to enter and pays out $110,000 in cash prizes!

Offenses to Target for FanDuel Stacking

There are a lot of lineup stacks I like today and a few more than that you could make a strong case for. I'm going to lay out a few reasons why I like the stacks below.

Red Sox LHB versus Dan Haren

The Red Sox have been a shaky (at best) offense this year, but tonight's matchup sets them up nicely to be more hot than cold. Haren is allowing a .268/.303/.489 slash line with 10 home runs to left-handed hitters this season and has to pitch at Fenway. The Sox bats will be fairly cheap and there's a few lineup combinations that could have great return on investment.

Rangers versus Robbie Ray

This game has one of the highest over/unders set (8.5) for tonight, and while the Diamondbacks can do damage I give the nod to the Rangers lineup as one of the best stacking options. Robbie Ray is a subpar major leaguer, and though he hasn't accumulated a ton of stats, a look at his numbers from this year and last reveal both left and right-handed hitters have greater than .340 wOBA and .460 slugging.

Angels versus Chad Bettis

This one is likely to be very popular because not only are the Angels hitting the ball well, they're also facing Chad Bettis in Coors Field. The question then is - do you roster their lefties, right-handed bats or just shoot for guys near the top and middle of the order? I don't really think there's a bad option of the three, but if I had to rank them it would be: RHB, Top, LHB.

DFS Starting Pitchers to Consider for FanDuel Cash Games

Francisco Liriano (SP, PIT) - $10,200

Liriano is my favorite cash game option tonight for a few reasons. Saving $2,300 (relative to Scherzer) isn't a small amount and leaves a lot more room for building a stronger lineup. I also expect Liriano to be much less owned, and while he doesn't have the strikeout stuff Scherzer has, he is facing a weak and very strikeout vulnerable offense in the Padres.

Honorable Mention: Max Scherzer (SP, WAS) - $12,500

DFS Starting Pitchers to Consider for FanDuel Tournaments

Taijuan Walker (SP, SEA) - $8,100

Walker has been as good as advertised over his last few starts, and he's a strong candidate for med-high strikeouts against the Tigers. The Tigers lineup takes a hit without Miggy, and they're also playing this one in home run killing Safeco Field.

Vincent Velasquez (SP, HOU) - $6,600

Velazquez is a big Vegas underdog tonight, but that's to be expected when your counterpart is Klubot. The over/under is set at just seven and knowing that combined with his exceptional talent is enough to make me a VV believer tonight.

Matt Cain (SP, SFG) - $,7200

It worked out beautifully for me last night with Chris Heston, and I expect recent history to repeat itself with Cain on the bump. He looked good in his last trip out there, and what better team to get your feet wet with than the lowly Mets?

DFS Infielders to Consider for FanDuel

As always, I’ll try to give you a few guys that I project to be some of the highest point accumulators and a few guys that I think have an opportunity to return a lot of value due to their low price/high ceiling combination.

Yasmani Grandal (C, LAD) - $3,000

Grandal has been a mainstay in my lineups and in these columns, but who could blame me? He's swinging a hot bat sandwiched in the middle of a great lineup and has another favorable matchup tonight along with a very reasonable price among an underwhelming crop of catchers.

J.T. Realmuto (C, MIA) - $2,600

The best value among catchers today. JT gets a bump up with park factors, facing Wade Miley, and a career .527 slugging percentage platoon split.

Albert Pujols (1B, LAA) - $4,800

Pujols is just one of several high priced elite first basemen for tonight. He's looking like the Albert of ol' lately and gets a big boost tonight with the game being played in Coors Field against Chad Bettis. Albert is a strong candidate to go deep tonight.

Edwin Encarnacion (1B, TOR) - $3,900

Encarnacion is perhaps just as good a candidate as Pujols to go deep but not as steep of a price tag. He is on the road but still in a very hitter friendly park at US Cellular.

Jeff Baker (2B, MIA) - $2,200

Baker is a solid option if you're going to punt this position or even try to go with a likely unpopular (but worth looking at) Marlins stack. He's a career .505 slugger against southpaws.

Brock Holt (3B, BOS) - $3,100

There are quite a few nice options at third today, but Brock gets a boost to the front of the line today thanks to a combination of a weak opposing pitcher, high slot in the batting order and the moderate price.

Adeiny Hechavarria (SS, MIA) - $2,400

Like his teammate Baker, Adeiny gets a boost with a weak opposing starter, a good hitters ball park and favorable price.  There's some extra value there if people don't jump on a mini Marlins stack tonight.

Xander Bogaerts (SS, BOS) - $2,900

One of the big things I look for when I'm not floored by the high-priced options at a position is lineup slot for that hitter, and lately Xander has been hitting third. That can lead to great value for a hitter on a bit of a hot streak facing a pitcher prone to giving up home runs.

DFS Outfielders to Consider for FanDuel

The outfielders in this first tier below have a greater than .500 slugging percentage against the opposing pitcher's arm side.

Ryan Braun (OF, MIL) - $4,900

Mark Canha (OF, OAK) - $2,700

Andre Ethier (OF, LAD) - $2,300

Bryce Harper (OF, WAS) - $5,000

Alex Guerrero (OF, LAD) - $2,200

Jose Bautista (OF, TOR) -$5,000

The outfielders in this next tier have a combination of a hot streak, park factors, great position in the order and/or facing a weak opposing starting pitcher.

Hanley Ramirez (OF, BOS) - $4,200

Kole Calhoun (OF, LAA) - $4,300

Adam Eaton (OF, CHW) - $2,800

Kevin Pillar (OF, TOR) - $3,000
