Top Hitter Streamers for Week 10: Head-to-Head or Weekly Leagues

Below are my top MLB hitter streamer options for Week 10 of fantasy baseball. All players listed here are under 50% owned in fantasy leagues and play seven games this week. There is less streaming talent available than other weeks, but if you need to take a flier, these are your guys.

Streaming hitters is a great way to increase production and fantasy stats off the waiver wire for your head-to-head matchups, or if you're dealing with some underperformers on your roster. Check back weekly for my favorite hitter streamers for the upcoming week.

Editor’s Note: RotoBaller’s fantasy baseball waiver wire pickups list is updated every single day. Our awesome writers bring you analysis on hot or emerging starting pitchers, and also all other fantasy positions. You can also download our waiver wire iPhone app for free, and easily stay updated.

1. Cameron Maybin, OF, Braves

(4 vs. San Diego, 3 @ NYM) - 14% owned

Maybin was viewed by many as a salary dump in the Craig Kimbrel deal, but he has shown some (fantasy) value. In 45 games this year, he has 5 homers, 8 steals, and is hitting .280. Maybin is a former top 10 prospect who is only 28, and who has shown a lot of speed previously, coupled with some power in a tough ballpark. He will face six righties this week, but he is hitting .307 against them throughout his career. He faces tough pitching matchups this week, but his pure talent makes him the top option.

2. Adam Lind, 1B, Brewers

(4 vs. Washington, 3 @ Pittsburgh) - 47% owned

This is not the first time I have or will write this: Lind can mash righties. This year, he is hitting .290 with 9 homers in 52 games. All nine homers have come against righties. There is no getting around the fact that he has tough pitching matchups this week. But in a shallow pool, he will face five or six righties depending on who the Nationals start on Saturday. Due to his track record against righties, he is worth a look.

3. Nick Markakis, OF, Braves

(4 vs. San Diego, 3 @ NYM) - 34% owned

Let's start with the bad: Markakis has no homers, 1 stolen base, and is coming off offseason surgery. Now that we got that out of the way, Markakis has a .291 career average and has never hit below .271. He is hitting over .300 so far this year. While he has not homered, he has hit double digit homers in every year of his career. He likely will not provide much, if anything, in the steals department, but his placement in the Braves' lineup should allow him some run production opportunities. And despite the tough matchups, he is the type of hitter that can hang in against any pitcher.

4. Gerardo Parra, OF, Brewers

(4 vs. Washington, 3 @ Pittsburgh) - 4% owned

Parra does not have as much name recognition as the others on the list, but he is likely available in your league. Over the last four years, he has averaged 145 games, 8.5 homers, 12.5 steals, and maintained an average ranging from .261 to .292. He is only 28 years old. With the injuries to Khris Davis and Ryan Braun (thumb), he should see his way into the lineup regularly. So far, he has 3 homers, 1 steal, and a .281 batting average. Throughout his career, he has better numbers against righties, and will face five or six this week. If the above aren't available and you need a streaming option, give him a shot.

5. Ben Paulsen, 1B/OF, Rockies

(3 vs. St. Louis, 4 @ Miami) - 6% owned

Paulsen has a weird week parkwise. He will have three games in the hitters' paradise of Coors, but then he will have four in Miami, where it often takes a Herculean effort for a lefty to clear the fences. Paulsen has only played less than a third of a season in the majors, but has hit .322 with 8 homers. His minor league numbers show that he has some power, and his 2013-2014 numbers suggest he may be able to hit for a respectable average (although not over .300). With Morneau out, Colorado facing six righites, and with the Rockies facing better pitching matchups than the others on this list, Paulsen is worth a shot.  He would be higher if not for four games in Miami.
