FanDuel DFS – MLB Lineup Picks, Sleepers and Advice for 5/25/15

Happy Memorial Day everyone! We've got a nice slate of baseball games scheduled for today. I'm going to focus on the late afternoon and night matchups, for my tournament and cash game plays. Be sure to double check that your players are in their starting lineups tonight.

Below are my FanDuel lineup picks for Monday, May 25th. My goal with these DFS picks, as always, is to try to choose players who will outperform their expectations. These players can be high-cost players, or they can be sleepers, but we are always looking for players that have a chance to return the greatest value on FanDuel.

Offenses to Target for FanDuel Stacking

Dodgers LHB versus Williams Perez

You almost start to feel sorry any time a below average right-handed pitcher heads into Chavez Ravine to take on the Dodgers and their left-handed heavy lineup. The young Perez has only made one start this season and it wasn't pretty. Tonight should be no different facing the likes of Adrian Gonzalez ($3,900), Joc Pederson ($3,700) and Andre Ethier ($2,500).

DFS Starting Pitchers to Consider for FanDuel

Jake Odorizzi versus the Mariners ($8,600)

Odorizzi has been nothing short of great through nine starts this season. He owns a 2.43 ERA, 2.59 FIP and 4.6 K:BB ratio. For a guy that doesn't get a lot of his outs on the ground, he's also done a swell job keeping the ball in the yard, and his HR/9 is less than one third the number it was last season. He's also facing a Mariners team that, on paper, looks like they should be hitting right-handed pitching hard with all the lefties in their lineup, but such has not been the case. Seattle hitters are striking out in 21.5% of their at-bats against right-handed pitching, the sixth worst mark in the league, and their .294 OBP is quite weak, too. Odorizzi is a strong play tonight in cash games.

Roenis Elias versus the Rays ($7,200)

I think Odorizzi might be at a cheap enough price point that you can still stack your offensive positions and use him in tournament games, but I wanted to throw out Elias as a solid option. Elias is off to a strong start with a 2.76 ERA and 25 strikeouts through five starts. It's no secret that the Rays lineup is not a strong one. Just take a look at the Rays' numbers when facing left-handed pitching this season: 24% K rate (27th in MLB) and a .260 batting average. He may not receive much in a run support, but I think Elias is a fine tournament option tonight.

DFS Infielders to Consider for FanDuel

Edwin Encarnacion - 1B - Jays ($4,200)

He's the most expensive first baseman on the board today, but with the way he's hitting, there's no way I can keep him out of my lineup. He's at home in his home run friendly park and just so happens to be slugging .717 with seven home runs in the past two weeks.

Adrian Gonzalez - 1B - Dodgers ($3,900)

Gonzalez hits in the middle of what is my favorite stack tonight. I have a good feeling the Dodgers' hitters will jump all over Williams Perez, with Gonzalez playing the role of catalyst.

Ryan Goins - 2B - Blue Jays ($2,300)

With Devon Travis hitting the 15-day DL, Goins has a chance to be an everyday guy. Tonight, he's a nice cheap option with decent platoon splits - including a .356 OBP against right-handed pitching in the last two weeks.

Gordon Beckham - 3B - Sox ($2,300)

Like Goins, Beckham is a nice, inexpensive option tonight if you're looking for a guy with a possibility of high return on investment. Beckham faces a pretty weak pitcher in Drew Hutchinson and has the HR friendly park factor working in his favor tonight.

Kyle Seager - 3B - Mariners ($3,000)

I like Seager in cash games tonight. He's very reasonably priced, considering what he's done to baseballs over the past two weeks: .600 slugging percentage with four home runs.

Jimmy Rollins - SS - Dodgers ($2,600)

Rollins is my fourth Dodger in tournament game stacks.

DFS Outfielders to Consider for FanDuel

I'm leaving out the more expensive, obvious plays, such as Trout, Cruz, and Bautista. You and I both know they make for solid everyday plays. Below are a few cheaper options to keep you under the salary cap and in the hunt in tournament games.

Chris Colabello - OF - Blue Jays ($2,700)

Another great tournament option if you've grabbed a high priced starting pitcher and need to fill your outfield spots with guys that could pay dividends. That's where Colabello comes in. The righty is slugging .420 against RHP and he's hot over the past two weeks, marked by his .407 OBP in that stretch.

Andre Ethier - OF - Dodgers ($2,500)

The veteran owns a .514 slugging percentage against righties and over the past two weeks, his batting average against that group is .333.

Avisail Garcia - OF - White Sox ($3,000)

Avisail has really poured it on lately and he's enjoying quite the season after an injury riddled 2014 campaign. He's a .404 slugger against RHP - which isn't outstanding, but not too shabby either - and a .500 slugger overall the past two weeks. I wouldn't be surprised to see him go deep tonight.
