FanDuel DFS – MLB Lineup Picks, Sleepers & Advice for 4/13/15

There are fourteen games on the slate today, which is pretty remarkable for a Monday. (Next Monday has just nine scheduled.) Games are pretty evenly divided, with six of the games during the day and eight at night. Expect to see a lot of 'Early Only' contest options. With that in mind, I'll offer up suggestions at each position that give you options, regardless of what time you're getting around to setting your lineup.

Editor’s Note: RotoBaller’s Premium DFS Lineup Picks & Tools help you get an edge for your FanDuel lineups with exclusive access to DFS tools and expert lineup picks. Also our DFS batters vs. pitchers tool helps you analyze today’s matchups and make optimal lineup decisions.

Stacking Offenses to Target for FanDuel DFS

Kansas City Royals

The Royals are at home, facing Twins starter Trevor May. At best, May is a below average back-end starter at the major league level. He posted a 7.88 ERA last season in nine starts and while he generates decent strike out numbers, he can be very wild (1.77 WHIP). Royals hitters also happen to be swinging hot bats and of their first six guys through the order, three hit from the left side. I expect the Royals to put up some runs here, and we could see them run on May, too.

Targets: Mike Moustakas, 3B ($2,900); Eric Hosmer, 1B ($3,700); Alcides Escobar, SS ($3,100)

Colorado Rockies

The Rockies order - the top especially - has been smashing this season (.321 team batting average), and tonight they face off against a fill-in starter for the Giants in righty Chris Heston. Heston will be making just his second major league start and isn't much of a strikeout pitcher. Sure, this game isn't being played in the thin air of Coors Field, but I can't ignore the way Tulowitzki, Arenado and co. are swinging it.

Boston Red Sox

This one may be a bit of a stretch, seeing as they face Jordan Zimmermann, but there are a lot of great pitchers on the bump in today's matchups. As such, stacking opportunities are a little scare in my opinion. We'll call this a mini-stack, since I'm really only interested in Pablo Sandoval (6-for-13 career against Zimmermann) and Hanley Ramirez (10-for-25 against Zimmermann, 1 HR, 3 XBH), whom often hit in consecutive spots in the order.

DFS Catchers To Consider for FanDuel

Travis d"Arnaud - C - Mets ($3,000)

d'Arnaud had a rare day of rest on Sunday, and I think he can provide a lot more value than the catchers priced higher than him today. He draws most of his power against right-handers and a few of his teammates preceding him in the order have good numbers against opposing pitcher Aaron Harang.

Salvador Perez - C - Royals ($3,600)

At their given price points, there aren't many catchers with a ton of value today. Perez may be able to provide some, however, hitting behind a few hitters I like and facing a weak starter in Trevor May.

DFS Infielders To Consider for FanDuel

Anthony Rizzo - 1B - Cubs ($4,700)

Rizzo has a favorable matchup against right-hander Mike Leake, who really struggles against left-handed hitters like Rizzo. I like Rizzo's chances to put one in the seats today, especially if the wind happens to be blowing anywhere but in at Wrigley Field.

Albert Pujols - 1B - Angels ($3,800)

Vegas is predicting some runs in this one (O/U set at 8.5) and I'm thinking Pujols contributes with a few runs driven in of his own. He faces lefty Ross Detwiler, who struggles massively with right-handed power hitters. Solid price point here, too.

Daniel Murphy - 2B - Mets ($3,000)

Murphy had a day off on Sunday and he should return to the No. 5 spot in the order today, where he'll face off against a pitcher he has seven hits against in 20 at-bats lifetime. Five of those hits went for extra bases.

Jose Altuve - 2B - Astros ($4,000)

While 4,000 isn't what you would normally call a "value," Altuve's case today may be the exception. In 19 at-bats against Scott Kazmir, Altuve is hitting nearly .500 and owns a shiny 1.105 OPS. It wouldn't surprise me to see Altuve run show off his wheels, too.

Troy Tulowitzki - SS - Rockies ($5,400)

You might break the bank with this one, but I can't in good conscience keep him off the list. I mentioned the Rockies as a good stacking opportunity and Tulo is a big reason why. Facing a pitcher who's making just his second major league start doesn't hurt, either.

Jean Segura - SS - Brewers ($3,200)

Not a huge sample size, but Segura has hit opposing starter Adam Wainwright well, with five hits to just one strikeout. Somewhat surprisingly, a few Brewers hitters have above .300 batting averages in their careers against Wainwright, so Segura may see a boost in runs and RBI chances if the Brew Crew can get something cooking.

David Wright - 3B - Mets ($3,700)

Wright has pretty much owned Aaron Harang over the course of his career, producing 12 hits in 28 at-bats. Five of those 12 hits went for extra bases, and teammate Daniel Murphy has hit Harang well, too, so I like his chances to see RBI opportunities.

Aramis Ramirez - 3B - Brewers ($3,100)

Speaking of third basemen owning their matchups today, Ramirez sports a .383 average and a 1.097 OPS against opposing pitcher Adam Wainwright in 60 at-bats. Three of his 23 hits off Wainwright left the yard, and another eight went for extra bases. He comes at a better price point than Wright, too.

DFS Outfielders To Consider for FanDuel

Jacoby Ellsbury - OF - Yankees ($4,000)

The speedy lead-off mans owns a 6-for-13 mark against Orioles starter Wei-Yen Chen with just one strikeout. Ellsbury should have a few steal opportunities against Chen, who has been increasingly relying on his off-speed pitches.

Josh Reddick - OF - Athletics ($3,400)

Fresh off his return from injury, I was hoping to see Reddick with a cheaper pricetag. Nonetheless, I can't keep a guy out of my lineup when he's crushed three home runs in 20 lifetime at-bats against opposing starter Scott Feldman.

Hanley Ramirez - OF - Red Sox ($4,000)

As I mentioned above, Ramirez doesn't mind seeing Zimmermann on the bump. His value also rises when he's playing at Fenway, given the fact there are short porches down the lines and he'll have opportunity to play wall ball in left field.

Alex Gordon - OF - Royals ($3,300)

Gordon has a favorable matchup against Trevor May and I'd be willing to bet he has a few at-bats with runners in scoring position. He's due, and relatively cheap.

DFS Starting Pitchers To Consider for FanDuel

Despite all the front of the rotation starters pitching today, I'm not thrilled about their chances for wins and high strikeout totals. Basically, I don't feel safe starting guys I'd normally go to war with. Zimmermann faces off against the Red Sox at Fenway, Gerrit Cole has the hot hitting Tigers in town, Jon Lester is too expensive for my taste today ($10,100) and Wainwright faces a team of guys that have solid histories against him.

Jacob deGrom - P - Mets ($8,900)

deGrom should rack up a decent chunk of strikeouts against this lowly Phillies order.

Andrew Cashner - P - Padres ($8,000)

Cashner is home in a pitchers park where he held opponents to a .186 batting average in 2014. His chances for a high strikeout game are relatively good, too.

2025 Second-Year Breakouts: Sophomores Who Could Shine In Year Two
