Justin Morneau (1B, COL) - 2015 Fantasy Baseball Sleeper

BALLER MOVE: Draft in the Middle Rounds of All Leagues

ANALYSIS: The version of Justin Morneau from 2008 may seem like a distant memory. In fact, the 80 RBI plateau was last reached by Morneau in 2009. But the Mile High air seems to breathe fresh life into its players bats and their current first baseman is no exception.

Fantasy players should know that first base is as deep of a position as it has ever been coming in to 2015. Sometimes addressing more shallow positions initially can be beneficial. Patience is indeed a virtue and comes in the form of Morneau in a big way for multiple reasons.

The Colorado Rockies seem destined for last place in the vaunted NL West. However that should not deter anyone away from a solid contact hitter such as Morneau. Having a strong .319 batting average in a hitters park such as Coors last year helps matters. Hitting between Troy Tulowitzki and Nolan Arenado should make your mouth water. Not having any real competition for at-bats makes life even sweeter.

Colorado is full of players that are prone to injury. This leaves others to step up and make a huge impact such as Morneau. He has the potential for a return to 2008 levels of production with a healthy cast surrounding him. This means 20 HR, 80 RBI and a .300 AVG is definitely possible. For a 33-year-old looking to build on a solid season, Morneau could have the fountain of youth to aid him.

Getting value in the middle rounds is crucial to your draft. The first base position has depth and Morneau can help with sneaky value at a discount price.
