BALLER MOVE: Add in Deep Leagues.
ANALYSIS: The part of Dan Straily’s game that keeps me coming back to him is his strikeout potential, which has been demonstrated time and again in AAA. Over his minor league career, Straily has thrown 551.1 innings with a whopping 591 strikeouts. Impressed yet? Over partial seasons in AAA in 2012 and 2013, he pitched 97.4 innings and struck out a staggering 115 batters. His K/9 rate in his minor league career is 9.7, compared to a 2.8 BB/9. This pedigree, along with the good fortune that he will make a chunk of his starts at pitcher-friendly O.co Coliseum, secures value for Straily as a number four/five starter on your fantasy team. What we’ve seen from Straily in the majors so far hasn’t been all that impressive, admittedly. At only 25 years old though, and getting his first shot at a full MLB season, I believe that the strikeouts will come in bunches and the K/BB ratio will improve. If he puts together a couple of good starts to begin the season, you’ll miss your chance, so if you have room and he's available in your league pick him up off the waiver wire. Right now he's still only 31% owned.
