Luis Gil Starts Throwing Program
Luis Gil (lat) felt find on Monday after starting his throwing program on Sunday. Gil had a small hiccup in his recovery from a right-lat strain that he suffered back in spring training, but he has resumed throwing as he attempts to return to New York's starting rotation. Fantasy managers need to remain patient, though, as the Yankees aren't going to rush him back after being shut down for two months. In a best-case scenario, the 26-year-old hurler will be able to make his 2025 season debut at some point in June. The Dominican pitcher turned heads in his return to the big leagues last year since 2022, going 15-7 with a 3.50 ERA, 1.19 WHIP and 171 strikeouts in 29 starts to win American League Rookie of the Year honors. Gil was good for the Yankees last year, but don't forget that he also led the league in walks (77).
