Chayce McDermott Struggles In First Rehab Start
Chayce McDermott (lat) struggled in his first rehab start with Double-A Chesapeake on Sunday. In this outing, the right-hander logged just 1 2/3 innings of work. He allowed one hit and one run but served up three free passes. He struck out three batters as well. McDermott has been sidelined with a lat strain he suffered early in spring training. Fantasy managers should expect the No. 4-ranked prospect in the system to continue to slowly increase his workload over the next few weeks. When he does officially return from the injured list, fantasy managers should expect the right-hander to open his 2025 campaign with Triple-A Norfolk. However, he could be in the mix for an early return to the majors. Last season during his first look in the big leagues, he logged four innings to the tune of a 6.75 ERA. For now, he should not be stashed in any redraft formats.
