Anthony Volpe Still Hovering Around .200
10 mins agoNew York Yankees shortstop Anthony Volpe went 1-for-3 with a single, a walk and a run scored in the Yankees' 6-4 loss on Monday night. He raised his batting average to .217 on the season but still only has four home runs and three stolen bases in 23 games. His four homers all came in the first five games of the season, and in his last 14 games, he is just 7-for-46 (.152) with five singles and two doubles. He has just two barrels and a 30% hard-hit rate over those 14 games with a .229 wOBA and 45 wRC+. It doesn't appear that his starting spot is in jeopardy, but the 23-year-old has not been a great option at a loaded shortstop position so far this season. His run production and stolen bases are decent in a stacked lineup, but his fantasy managers will need more from him as the season continues. In standard leagues, it's not quite time to bail on him yet, but hopefully he turns it around soon.
