Cowboys Expected To Pick Up Tyler Smith's Fifth-Year Option
13 mins agoThe Dallas Cowboys are expected to pick up the fifth-year option for the 2026 season for offensive guard Tyler Smith, the former first-rounder (24th overall) in 2022 out of Tulsa, a person with knowledge of the decision told The Dallas Morning News' Calvin Watkins. It doesn't come as much of a surprise after the 24-year-old left guard made the Pro Bowl in two of his three NFL seasons as one of the best players on the Cowboys' offensive line. Smith's presence on Dallas' O-line is of even more importance after both right guard Zack Martin and left tackle Tyron Smith retired in the offseason. His projected salary for the 2026 season will be $23.4 million since he has made multiple Pro Bowls. Smith will earn a base salary of $2.5 million in 2025 after signing a four-year, $13.3 million deal with Dallas. Additionally, the Cowboys are interested in locking up Smith to a long-term contract extension.
