Ezequiel Tovar Placed On 10-Day Injured List
Ezequiel Tovar (hip) was placed on the 10-day injured list due to a left hip contusion. This transaction was retroactive to April 16. Through the first 16 games of the season, Tovar has posted a .212/.257/.303 slash line with four doubles, one triple, and two stolen bases through the first 16 games of the regular season. The 23-year-old has been held out of the starting lineup since Wednesday and was considered day-to-day. However, with Tovar now on the injured list, fantasy managers should expect him to miss at least the next week of action. In a corresponding move, the Rockies promoted infielder Aaron Schunk to the major league roster. He will also get the starting nod on Sunday and bat in the nine hole. While Tovar is out, Schunk and Kyle Farmer should share time at shortstop.

Ezequiel Tovar Not Progressing Well
Ezequiel Tovar (hip) is "not progressing as we'd hoped," according to manager Bud Black. Tovar has been sidelined due to a left hip contusion and is still struggling to field ground balls. Patrick Lyons of JustBBMedia noted that the infielder may still be at least 10 days from returning. Through his first 17 games of the season, Tovar has held a modest .212/.257/.303 slash line with four doubles, one home run, and two stolen bases. However, under the hood, the 23-year-old has generated a strong .266 xBA with a 91.2 mph average exit velocity, which suggests the infielder should see positive regression when he returns to action. While Tovar is sidelined, Kyle Farmer should continue to see most opportunities at shortstop.

Ezequiel Tovar Still A Week Or So Away From Return From IL
Ezequiel Tovar (hip) is still at least a week away from returning from the injured list according to manager Bud Black. Aaron Schunk had been filling in as of late for the injured Tovar, but has now been placed on the IL as well. Kyle Farmer will man shortstop in Saturday's game against the Reds, but has not recorded a hit in his last 17 at-bats. So, needless to say, the 4-21 Rockies will hope to get Tovar back as soon as possible to hopefully breathe some life into the offense, although he was struggling to begin the year, slashing .212/.257/.303 with no home runs, a .251 wOBA, and 44 wRC+. In contrast, Tovar put together a .269-26-78-83-6 line last season with a .324 wOBA and 95 wRC+.

Ezequiel Tovar Could Be Battling Hip Injury All Year
Ezequiel Tovar (hip), who did not make the trip with the team this week to Kansas City to face the Royals, will likely be out beyond his 10-day window on the injured list and will have to play through some discomfort the rest of the season. Tovar landed on the IL on April 19 (retroactive to April 16) with a left-hip contusion, and his return is to be determined. The 23-year-old was initially scratched from the lineup last Wednesday against the Los Angeles Dodgers and may not return until early May now. In his absence, Kyle Farmer has become a lineup regular for the banged-up Rockies. He hasn't cleared the fences yet but has hit well to the tune of a .284 average (19-for-67) with six RBI and two runs scored. It's fair to wonder if Tovar will be able to bounce back from a slow start that has seen him go 14-for-66 (.212) with no homers, four RBI and two steals in 16 games.

Ezequiel Tovar Scratched On Wednesday
Ezequiel Tovar (hip) has been scratched from the starting lineup ahead of Wednesday's game against the Los Angeles Dodgers. It sounds like the Rockies are taking the cautious approach and pulling Tovar out of the lineup due to left hip pain. For now, fantasy managers should consider him day-to-day, but the Rockies should give another update on his status shortly. In the meantime, Kyle Farmer will cover shortstop and bat cleanup versus right-hander Bobby Miller. The veteran utility man has been one of the few bright spots in this Colorado lineup early in the season.
