New York Mets outfield prospect Drew Gilbert (hamstring) returned to Triple-A Syracuse on Thursday. Gilbert was on the 7-day injured list due to a hamstring injury at the start of the campaign. He participated in a brief six-game rehab assignment with Low-A St. Lucie before returning to action. During his rehab assignment, Gilbert held a strong .374/.444/.708 slash line with two long balls. Fantasy managers should expect Gilbert to push for his MLB debut later this summer as he has already had a taste of Triple-A action. However, during his first look at Triple-A last season, Gilbert held a modest .215/.313/.393 line with just 10 home runs and three stolen bases across 56 games. If the former 28th overall pick can turn the corner, he could be in the mix to reach Queens during the first half of the season.--Andy Smith - RotoBaller

New York Mets outfield prospect Drew Gilbert (hamstring) was placed on the 7-day injured list. Gilbert dealt with hamstring injuries last season and was unable to participate in the Grapefruit League. Fantasy managers should continue to monitor his status, but should expect the Mets to be cautious with Gilbert. Gilbert is considered one of the top hitting prospects in the system. Last season, the former 28th overall selection only appeared in 62 contests in the minor leagues. He spent most of his time with Triple-A, where he held a .215/.313/.393 slash line. However, during the 2023 campaign, Gilbert was very productive at the Double-A level, posting a strong .271/.372/.438 slash line with 12 long balls across 95 games. When he returns to action, he could push for an MLB debut in the second half of the campaign.--Andy Smith - RotoBaller

New York Mets outfield prospect Drew Gilbert (hamstring) may not participate in any spring training contests. The team is opting to take Gilbert slow as he dealt with a hamstring injury during most of the 2024 campaign. However, the team is expecting Gilbert to be ready for Opening Day. Last season, the former 28th overall pick in the 2022 MLB Draft spent most of his season at Triple-A. Across 56 contests, Gilbert held a .215/.313/.393 slash line with eight doubles and 10 home runs. He swiped three bags and held a 25:51 BB:K ratio. However, during the previous campaign, Gilbert posted a .271/.372/.438 slash line with 18 doubles and 12 long balls across 95 contests. When the Tennessee product is cleared for action, he will likely open the season at Triple-A. If he can find his footing at this level, he should contend for an early 2025 debut.--Andy Smith - RotoBaller

New York Mets outfield prospect Drew Gilbert has been showcasing his power throughout the Arizona Fall League. Through 19 games, the No.3 ranked prospect in Queens has gone deep four times, which is tied for the second-most among outfielders. However, he has struggled to find consistency at the plate as he has posted an underwhelming .209/.361/.418 line but has shown a strong eye at the plate with a 13:12 BB:K ratio. Last summer, Gilbert battled injuries and was only able to appear in 56 games at the Triple-A level. Through this stint, the former first-round pick carried a .215/.313/.393 line with ten home runs and eight doubles. Given his struggles in Triple-A last summer, the Mets will likely opt to let him develop more at that level before promoting him to the majors.--Andy Smith - RotoBaller

New York Mets outfield prospect Drew Gilbert (hamstring) was 0-for-2 with a walk in a rehab appearance Thursday for the FCL Mets. The Mets' No. 3 prospect is working his way back from a right hamstring strain. The 23-year-old managed to play just seven games this season for Triple-A Syracuse. The former first-round pick of the Astros in 2022, Gilbert offers a nice blend of hitting and speed. Once he demonstrates full health and makes it back to Syracuse, Gilbert could push for a promotion to the big leagues before the season is over.--Brian Buckey - RotoBaller
