Willi Castro Exits Early Wednesday With Oblique Tightness
2 days agoMinnesota Twins utility man Willi Castro (oblique) left Wednesday's 4-3 extra-inning win over the visiting New York Mets at Target Field in the eighth inning due to mild right-oblique tightness, according to manager Rocco Baldelli. With Carlos Correa (wrist) getting injured on Tuesday, Castro started this game at shortstop and went 2-for-3 with a double before leaving late in the contest. Correa actually entered the game late as a defensive replacement at the 6, although that doesn't mean the Twins will have either Castro or Correa available to play shortstop for Friday's series opener in Atlanta against the Braves. It's good news that Castro's injury is being described as minor, but oblique injuries can be tricky. There's no guarantee he'll be available to play this weekend after an off day on Thursday. Wednesday's two-hit performance was only Castro's third multi-hit game of the young season.
