Kristian Campbell Taking A Seat On Wednesday
2 days agoBoston Red Sox rookie second baseman Kristian Campbell is taking the day off for Wednesday's contest against the division-rival Tampa Bay Rays at George M. Steinbrenner Field. He will be replaced at second base by David Hamilton, who will hit eighth against struggling Rays right-hander Zack Littell. Campbell will get a breather after starting each of the team's last eight games. One of the team's top prospects coming into the year, the 22-year-old earned an Opening Day roster spot as the starting second baseman and has not disappointed in his first 18 games, hitting .302/.392/.508 with a .900 OPS, three homers, four RBI, six RBI, a steal, 11 runs scored, 10 walks and 18 strikeouts. He should be back in there after an off day on Thursday in Friday's series opener against the Chicago White Sox. Hamilton offers very little offensive upside at the bottom of the batting order and has just one hit in 21 at-bats this year.
