The Washington Nationals are promoting infielder Trey Lipscomb from Triple-A Rochester. In a corresponding move, the Nationals are placing infielder Paul DeJong (nose) on the 10-day injured list. Lipscomb made his MLB debut last summer and posted a .200/.268/.232 slash line across 61 games. He only hit one long ball, but carried decent fantasy value given his speed production. Across this stint, he swiped 11 bags. During the early part of the Triple-A regular season, Lipscomb enjoyed a strong start, as he held a .295/.392/.386 line across 13 games. He tallied 13 total hits, swiped two bags, and held a 7:13 BB:K. Fantasy managers should expect Lipscomb to see time at shortstop while DeJong is sidelined. He is worth adding in deeper category formats when looking for speed upside.--Andy Smith - RotoBaller

The Washington Nationals have placed shortstop Paul DeJong (nose) on the 10-day injured list with a fractured nose. In a corresponding move, the Nationals promoted infielder Trey Lipscomb from Triple-A Rochester. DeJong suffered this injury during their victory over the Pittsburgh Pirates on Tuesday evening. Fantasy managers should continue to monitor his status while he is sidelined, but should not expect him to miss too much time. Through the first 16 games of the campaign, the 31-year-old infielder posted a .204/.246/.278 slash line with four doubles and a 2:24 BB:K. Under the hood, DeJong has generated a low .220 xwOBA with a .258 xSLG, which are both well below the average marks. While he is sidelined, fantasy managers should expect Lipscomb to see several opportunities in the infield. He will have value in deeper formats given his speed upside.--Andy Smith - RotoBaller

MASN's Bobby Blanco writes that Washington Nationals infielders Trey Lipscomb, Jose Tena and Brady House are the most likely candidates to compete for the starting third base job in spring training this year. Lipscomb, 24, has the most MLB experience of the trio after making his big-league debut in 2024 and hitting .200/.268/.232 with a homer, 10 RBI and 11 steals in 61 games. He showed a strong glove, but Lipscomb was optioned four times in six months and recalled five times. Tena, 23, started 34 of the team's final 44 games at third and hit .274 with three homers, 15 RBI and six steals in 41 games with the Nats. He didn't outshine Lipscomb in the field but was much more impressive with the bat and produced nice exit velocities. House, 21, has been good on offense and defense but he has only made 51 appearances at third at Triple-A. The former first-rounder has more long-term upside but also needs more experience.--Keith Hernandez - RotoBaller

Washington Nationals third baseman Trey Lipscomb is being promoted to the major league roster, according to Andrew Golden of the Washington Post. Lipscomb has made 38 starts throughout the 2024 season in the majors and has held a .237/.311/.271 line with just one home run, nine RBI, 10 stolen bases, and an 11:21 BB:K ratio. At Triple-A this season, the 24-year-old performed quite well with a .290/.336/.427 line with three long balls, 20 RBI, two stolen bases, and an 8:26 BB:K ratio. Lipscomb could see time at the hot corner during his next major league stint but should be left on the waiver wire until he receives consistent playing time.--Andy Smith - RotoBaller

The Washington Nationals have demoted third base prospect Trey Lipscomb to Triple-A Rochester. Lipscomb got some run earlier in the year, but gone up and down from the farm since. Lipscomb struggled in his recent call-up by having one hit over 11 at-bats. With no clear spot, it makes sense for Lipscomb to continue to get playing time on a regular basis. At 24-years-old, Lipscomb has likely reached his ceiling and is more useful for the Nationals then dynasty leagues. He can safely remain on the wire for now. Replacing Lipscomb will be veteran first baseman Harold Ramirez, who can also remain on the waiver wire.--Daniel Burdeen - RotoBaller
