3 days agoPhiladelphia Phillies designated hitter Kyle Schwarber went 1-for-5 with a home run and a walk in Thursday's 4-2 loss to the Atlanta Braves. The 32-year-old walloped a Spencer Schwellenbach fastball 429 feet over the right-center field wall in the top of the third to tie the game at one. It was his sixth long ball of the season, tying him with New York Yankees' Aaron Judge and the Athletic's Tyler Soderstrom for the league lead. Schwarber has been excellent in 2025, bolstering a .283/.411/.739 slash line with 12 RBI and 12 runs scored. The lefty slugger bears a robust 61.8% hard-hit rate and 96.8 mph exit velocity, placing him in the top 3% of all MLB hitters in both metrics.--Alex Ciulla

2 days agoPhiladelphia Phillies designated hitter Kyle Schwarber went 3-for-3 with a home run and a triple in Tuesday's 7-5 loss to the Atlanta Braves. He drove in three runs, scored twice, and drew a walk in the contest. Schwarber had another two hard-hit balls in this one -- both off Braves pitcher Chris Sale. His triple was a 105.1 MPH laser that bounced off the base of the right-center-field wall. Then, he blasted a Sale four-seam fastball 462 feet at 116.7 MPH over the right field wall in the top of the fifth inning. The 32-year-old has been blistering at the dish, batting .324 (12-for-37) with one double, one triple, and five homers -- tying him for second in the MLB.--Alex Ciulla

2 weeks agoPhiladelphia Phillies designated hitter Kyle Schwarber went 1-for-4 with a two-run home run in Monday's 6-1 win over the Rockies. The 434-foot blast was Schwarber's third of the season and he's now up to six RBI. The 32-year-old is coming off a 38-home run campaign in 2024, with ATC projections forecasting another 36 in 2025. The left-handed hitter is hitting well to begin the year, now 6-for-17 (.353) on the young season. With the Phillies having an off day on Tuesday, Schwarber will get back to work on Wednesday against Kyle Freeland and the Rockies, a pitcher whom he's not had success against in the past, going just 1-for-12 with six strikeouts in his career. Season-long managers will continue to fire him up, but he might be an avoid for DFS.--Jarod Rupp - RotoBaller

2 months agoPhiladelphia Phillies outfielder/designated hitter Kyle Schwarber has hit leadoff in almost 85 percent of his plate appearances since joining the team, but he could be moved down to third or fourth in the batting order in 2025. If that happens, shortstop Trea Turner would lead off, with first baseman Bryce Harper likely hitting second. Third baseman Alec Bohm and Schwarber could be interchangeable in the No. 3 and No. 4 spots. In addition to a possible lineup change, Schwarber has been working three times a week at first base with infield coach Bobby Dickerson. The Phillies want to give themselves another option when Harper needs a day off or if he gets injured. Schwarber has not played first since starting nine games there with Boston in 2021. A move to the leadoff spot for the 31-year-old lefty slugger would drop his run production but boost his RBI opportunities for fantasy managers.--Keith Hernandez - RotoBaller

7 months agoPhiladelphia Phillies outfielder Kyle Schwarber hit his 36th home run Saturday in a 6-3 loss to the New York Mets. It was his first homer in his last seven games, and his fourth in his last 15 games. On the season, the veteran is hitting .251 with 36 home runs, 99 RBI, five stolen bases and 106 runs scored. The leadoff hitter will look to continue his terrific season in the series finale tomorrow afternoon. Schwarber will look to have a hot final week leading into the playoffs, where the Phillies hope to have a long run into October.--Mike Carter - RotoBaller
