Agustin Ramirez Hits First Long Ball Of Triple-A Regular Season
1 week agoMiami Marlins catching prospect Agustin Ramirez went 2-for-4 with his first home run of the Triple-A regular season on Wednesday against Charlotte. This outing extended his current hitting streak to five games. Through the first 10 games of Triple-A Jacksonville's regular season, Ramirez has posted a .275/.318/.475 slash line with five doubles, one long ball, and a 3:13 BB:K. Ramirez has also swiped two bags and tallied seven RBI. The 23-year-old was in contention to break camp with the major league roster but fell just short in the competition. However, if the backstop can begin to hit for power, he may not need much more time in the minor leagues. Last summer, across 68 games at Triple-A, he posted a .245/.345/.411 line. If he continues to perform well, he could find a role in the majors as Nick Fortes and Liam Hicks have yet to show consistent production in the major leagues.
