2 weeks agoSan Diego Padres outfielder Fernando Tatis Jr. (shoulder) left Tuesday's 10-4 loss to the Athletics early with left-shoulder discomfort, according to manager Mike Shildt. The skipper also said that Tatis is "checking out medically." "We erred on the side of caution and we'll evaluate. Everything seems to be intact and good shape and strength good, and he's not overly concerned." The 26-year-old superstar appeared to injure his shoulder on a swing in his second at-bat of the game, but he stayed in for a while longer before eventually being pulled. While the injury doesn't seem to be a big concern right now, fantasy managers will remember that Tatis has had issues with his left shoulder in the past, even requiring surgery. At the very least, expect him to be out through Thursday's off day, but he could also miss time going into a weekend home series against the division-rival Colorado Rockies.--Keith Hernandez - RotoBaller

1 day agoSan Diego Padres outfielder Fernando Tatis Jr. had another huge fantasy game on Saturday night in Houston, going 2-for-4 with a home run, a stolen base, two runs scored, and an RBI. He opened the scoring with a 402-foot homer to left off Hayden Wesneski in the third inning and singled and stole a base before scoring on a Manny Machado double in the fifth inning. Those two runs were all the Padres could muster, though, as the Astros handed them a second straight defeat. Tatis is off to a fantastic start to the season, hitting .351 with seven home runs, seven stolen bases, 19 runs scored, 15 RBI, and a .451 wOBA. He has been one of the best players in fantasy baseball this season and is a multi-category producer to build around in all formats--Zach Thompson - RotoBaller

6 days agoSan Diego Padres outfielder Fernando Tatis Jr. delivered a standout performance on Monday, going 3-for-5 with two home runs, three runs scored, and three RBI in a 10–4 victory over the Chicago Cubs. Tatis launched a solo shot in the third inning and followed up with a two-run homer in the eighth as he continued to torch the ball early in the season. This performance elevated Tatis' season stats to a .361 average, six home runs, 16 runs scored, 12 RBI, and six stolen bases. Tatis is a five-category stud, and with the way he is playing right now, he could end up being one of the best players for fantasy this season.--Matt Garon - RotoBaller

1 week agoSan Diego Padres outfielder Fernando Tatis Jr. continued his power surge during Saturday's game against the Colorado Rockies. The right-handed slugger blasted a solo home run in the opening frame to give his team the lead. Tatis struck out the rest of his plate appearances, but would help his team get the 2-0 win. Tatis has hit three home runs over his last four games and has nine RBI on the season. It doesn't seem like the surgically repaired shoulder is holding him back at all this season.--Andy Webb - RotoBaller

1 week agoSan Diego Padres outfielder Fernando Tatis Jr. (shoulder) is back in right field and batting leadoff for the Friars in Friday's series opener at Petco Park against the division-rival Colorado Rockies and right-hander German Marquez. Tatis tweaked his surgically-repaired left shoulder on a swing in Tuesday's loss to the Athletics and was held out of the series finale on Wednesday as a precaution. It's something to watch with the 26-year-old superstar, but the fact that he's back in the lineup a few days later is encouraging. San Diego's lineup isn't nearly as strong with both Jackson Merrill (hamstring) and Jake Cronenworth (ribs) on the injured list, but Tatis remains a must-start in all fantasy formats now that he's back in action. The Dominican superstar has been on fire at the plate (.364, two homers, seven RBI, 10 runs, five steals). He's hitting .154 with a homer and three RBI in 13 career at-bats against Marquez.--Keith Hernandez - RotoBaller
