Wyatt Langford Leaves Early Tuesday With Side Tightness
7 days agoTexas Rangers outfielder Wyatt Langford (side) left Tuesday's 10-6 loss to the Chicago Cubs at Wrigley Field early due to right-side tightness. Langford did go 2-for-4 with a solo home run and two strikeouts in the game, but he injured his side late in the game on a swing and had to be replaced in left field by veteran Kevin Pillar. Not only are side injuries tricky for power hitters like Langford, but the 23-year-old former fourth overall pick in 2023 out of the University of Florida also missed time in spring training with a similar issue. He should be considered day-to-day for now, but Langford is likely to undergo testing and could end up missing time going forward. At the very least, fantasy managers shouldn't expect him to play on Wednesday in Chicago. If Langford ends up missing extended time, Pillar and Josh Smith could end up platooning in left field for the Rangers. UPDATE: Langford said the injury doesn't feel as serious as the one he suffered in spring training and is hopeful that he won't miss much time, if any.
