Valente Bellozo Called Up And Starting On Monday Against Mets
1 week agoThe Miami Marlins recalled right-hander Valente Bellozo from Triple-A Jacksonville on Monday, and he will make the start in the team's series opener against the division-rival New York Mets at Citi Field. Bellozo is making a spot start in place of right-hander Sandy Alcantara, who was placed on the paternity list on Monday. The 25-year-old Mexican hurler will be making his second start of the year and just his 15th career MLB start after making his debut with the Marlins in 2024. Bellozo looked good in his season debut on March 29 against the Pittsburgh Pirates, allowing just one earned run while walking two and striking out four in 4 1/3 innings. However, the matchup isn't as good this time around for those getting crazy in DFS formats, and he's likely to head back to Jacksonville after the start.
