5 days agoLos Angeles Angels catcher Logan O'Hoppe went 2-for-4 with a solo home run and a walk in Friday's 8-6 loss to the Guardians. The home run came off Guardians closer Emmanuel Clase and was his third of the season, now hitting .250 with six RBI and three runs scored in five games, but with an ugly 38.1 percent K% (1:8 BB:K). The 25-year-old is coming off a 20-home run campaign, but the batting average and counting stats leave much to be desired, however, he still finished as a top-10 catcher last season. If he draws the start on Saturday, the 6-foot-3 backstop will go up against Cleveland's Tanner Bibee, who he is 1-for-9 off of lifetime with a double, a walk, and three strikeouts, so there are likely better DFS plays.--Jarod Rupp - RotoBaller

2 days agoLos Angeles Angels catcher Logan O'Hoppe went 2-for-4 with a solo home run in Sunday's 6-2 win over the Guardians. This was his fourth straight game with a homer, and he is now slashing .345/.367/.862 with five homers in seven games this year. He put his power on full display during his rookie season in 2024, hitting 20 long balls in 136 games. That type of power potential is rare for catchers, and now it looks like the former top prospect is taking another step forward. He is a must-start fantasy catcher in all formats going forward.--Jeremy Heist - RotoBaller

5 days agoLos Angeles Angels catcher Logan O'Hoppe turned in a big day in a 12-5 loss to the St. Louis Cardinals on Wednesday. O'Hoppe went 1-for-4 with a grand slam and a strikeout in the losing effort. The veteran catcher gave the Angels a brief 5-3 lead with his seventh-inning homer with the bases loaded, but the Los Angeles bullpen was unable to hold onto it. O'Hoppe is now hitting .188 with two homers, two runs, and five RBI through 16 at-bats in the early going. After he showed some power in 2024 with 20 homers, O'Hoppe seems to be picking up where he left off in the power department, although fantasy managers would like to see him raise his batting average a bit.--Matt T - RotoBaller

7 months agoLos Angeles Angels catcher Logan O'Hoppe was a perfect 4-for-4 at the plate in Saturday's 10-4 loss to the Astros. The 24-year-old whacked a pair of doubles and hit his 20th home run of the season, collecting an RBI and scoring twice in the process. The young backstop was due for a big day, having come into the contest 7-for-71 (.099) over his last 22 games. Prior to the All-Star break, it looked like O'Hoppe was in full breakout mode, slashing .276/.328/.472 in 83 games, but since then he's slashed .176/.243/.300 in 48 games. Still, his .239-20-56-60-2 line puts him in the Top 12 at the catcher position for fantasy.--Jarod Rupp - RotoBaller

7 months agoLos Angeles Angels catcher Logan O'Hoppe will take a seat in Sunday's series finale as the Angels hope to clinch a series victory against the Seattle Mariners. O'Hoppe started in the first two games of the series and will cede duties to Matt Thaiss, who will bat in the eight-hole. The St. John the Baptist HS product has held a .241/.298/.402 line this season with a career-high 17 home runs and 14 doubles. He has hit the ball quite hard at a strong 46.5% mark, placing him in the 79th percentile among qualified hitters. Fantasy managers should expect the 24-year-old backstop to return to the starting nine on Tuesday evening as the Angles play host to the Dodgers. DFS players should consider fading Thaiss this afternoon as he faces Mariners right-hander Bryce Miller who carries a solid 3.23 ERA and a 0.98 WHIP this season.--Andy Smith - RotoBaller
