Roansy Contreras Clears Waivers, Starting Season At Triple-A
4 days agoBaltimore Orioles right-handed pitcher Roansy Contreras cleared waivers and will begin his campaign with Triple-A Norfolk. Last season, Contreras spent time with several clubs. He logged 68 1/3 cumulative innings at the major league level. Across this stint, Contreras posted a 4.35 ERA with a 1.38 WHIP. He tallied 56 punchouts and served up walks at a high 10.4 percent rate. He also generated a poor 4.94 xERA and a .260 xBA, which placed him in the 12th and 20th percentile, respectively. In spring training, Contreras posted a 6.75 ERA and a 1.68 WHIP across eight innings of work. Fantasy managers should expect Contreras to open the season in the starting rotation in Norfolk. He could eventually return to the majors when Baltimore needs additional pitching depth.
