Jacob Wilson Tallies Hit In Season Opener
4 days agoAthletics shortstop prospect Jacob Wilson went 1-for-3 with a single on Opening Day. Wilson got the starting nod at shortstop and batted in the nine-hole. He hit a single in the third frame off Seattle ace Logan Gilbert. Wilson made his MLB debut last summer but only appeared in 25 games before suffering a season-ending hamstring injury. During his brief taste of the majors, the former sixth overall pick posted a .250/.314/.315 slash line. He generated a strong .266 xBA while holding a strong 9.7 percent strikeout rate. In the minor leagues, Wilson flashed elite contact skills. Across 53 games last season, split between Double and Triple-A, Wilson posted a .433/.473/.668 slash line with a 14:15 BB:K. Fantasy managers in deeper formats should monitor his progression as he could become a viable middle infielder who could significantly improve your batting average output.
