Yerry De Los Santos Unable To Make Opening Day Roster
5 days agoThe New York Yankees have optioned right-handed pitcher Yerry De Los Santos to Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre. De Los Santos was competing for a spot on the Opening Day roster but fell short in his bid. In the Grapefruit League, De Los Santos logged nine 1/3 innings to the tune of a 1.93 ERA with a 1.39 WHIP. The 27-year-old has only logged 50 career innings at the MLB level throughout his career. He has held a 4.14 ERA with a 1.26 WHIP. Last summer, De Los Santos spent the entire campaign in the minor leagues. He logged 59 innings with Scranton/Wilkes-Barre and posted a 4.12 ERA with a 1.44 WHIP. He tallied 55 punchouts across 59 innings while serving up 19 free passes. If he continues to progress at Triple-A, he could push to return to the majors later in the season.
