Yankees Assign Colten Brewer To Minor-League Camp
5 days agoNew York Yankees right-handed pitcher Colten Brewer has been assigned to minor league camp. Brewer was competing for a spot in the bullpen. During spring training, he posted a strong 0.90 ERA with a 0.90 WHIP across 10 innings of work. During this stretch, he tallied seven strikeouts and served up three walks. However, he fell short in the competition and will likely begin his season at the Triple-A level. Last summer, Brewer logged 20 2/3 innings in the major leagues and posted a 5.66 ERA with a high 1.60 WHIP. Across 120 career innings in the majors, Brewer has held a 5.10 ERA with a 1.74 WHIP. If the 32-year-old were to find his footing at Triple-A, he would contend to return to the majors. If he does return, he will likely be deployed in a low-leverage relief role.
