Tobias Myers Throws Pain-Free On Friday
17 hours agoMilwaukee Brewers right-hander Tobias Myers (oblique) played catch in camp on Friday and didn't have any discomfort in his oblique, making a late-April return a possibility, according to MLB.com's Adam McCalvy. Myers was pulled from his Cactus League start last Saturday due to a left-oblique strain and will be forced to open the 2025 regular season on the injured list. However, the 26-year-old's MRI results delivered good news, and he might not have to wait long before making his season debut before the calendar flips to May. Expect him to begin ramping up his workload before eventually going on a short minor-league rehab assignment in April. The former sixth-round pick by the Baltimore Orioles in 2016 was a stabilizing force in Milwaukee's rotation in his rookie year in 2024, going 9-6 with a strong 3.00 ERA, 1.17 WHIP, 127 K's and 36 walks in 138 innings. A below-average strikeout rate limits his fantasy upside, and regression could be coming.

Tobias Myers To Start The Year On Injured List
5 days agoMilwaukee Brewers right-hander Tobias Myers (oblique) will start the year on the injured list with a left-oblique strain, but the team thinks they can get his injury under control fairly quickly. Manager Pat Murphy said that Myers' injury was "better than we were expecting" and that a return in April "could be in play." It's a best-case scenario for the 26-year-old, who went 9-6 with a 3.00 ERA (3.91 FIP), 1.17 WHIP, 127 strikeouts and 36 walks in 138 innings over his first 27 major-league appearances (25 starts) for the Brew Crew last year. With Myers set to open the season on the shelf, Tyler Alexander is expected to open the year in the Brewers' starting rotation. While Myers was a bright spot for Milwaukee's rotation last year, he's due some regression in 2025 and has a lowered fantasy floor and ceiling due to his below-average strikeout rate. He's currently ranked as RotoBaller's No. 92 fantasy starting pitcher.

Tobias Myers Exits Early On Saturday
7 days agoMilwaukee Brewers starting pitcher Tobias Myers (oblique) exited Saturday's spring training contest with left-oblique discomfort. Fantasy managers should continue to monitor his status as the team will likely provide an update in the coming days. The 26-year-old is expected to open the season in the starting rotation. Last season, Myers made his MLB debut and tossed 138 innings to the tune of a 3.00 ERA and a 1.17 WHIP. He tallied 127 punchouts and served up walks at a strong 6.3 percent rate. He also generated a modest 4.22 xERA with a .251 xBA, which suggests that he could face some regression during the 2025 campaign. If the right-hander were to miss the start of the regular season, fantasy managers should expect Tyler Alexander to see opportunities in the rotation. UPDATE: Myers will undergo imaging to determine the severity of his injury, but he's optimistic it's not too serious.

Tobias Myers In Line To Start Game 3 Of Wild-Card Series
6 months agoMilwaukee Brewers right-hander Tobias Myers will start Game 3 of the wild-card series at American Family Field on Thursday against the New York Mets if the Brewers are able to win in Game 2 on Wednesday to force a deciding third game. Myers would only be available to start on Thursday if he's not used in relief in Wednesday's game. The 26-year-old stepped up big time for Milwaukee's banged-up rotation in his first big-league season in 2024, going 9-6 with a sharp 3.00 ERA (3.91 FIP), a 1.17 WHIP, 127 strikeouts and 36 walks in 138 innings over 27 appearances (25 starts). He was strong in the final month of September outside of a four-run outing on Sept. 14 against the Arizona Diamondbacks. In Myers' final start of the regular season last weekend, he held the Mets scoreless through four frames to picking up the win while walking none and striking out five.

Tobias Myers Strikes Out Nine On Saturday
7 months agoMilwaukee Brewers starting pitcher Tobias Myers tossed seven 1/3 shutout innings on Saturday evening. Myers allowed just three hits and no walks while striking out a season-high nine batters. Entering Saturday, Myers posted an excellent 1.61 ERA and a 0.99 WHIP in his past four starts. After posting a 3.26 ERA and a 1.16 WHIP through the first three months of the campaign, Myers has continued to develop even further and has begun to flash elite upside. The 26-year-old is slated to face the Dodgers in his next start on Thursday, August 15, and could be worth a look in DFS, given his recent stretch.
