Ty Dillon A High-Risk, Low-Priced DFS Option At Las Vegas
10 hours agoOne of the surprises during qualifying for this weekend's Pennzoil 400 at Las Vegas Motor Speedway was Ty Dillon, who will roll off the starting grid from 17th place when the fifth Cup Series race of the season goes green on Sunday. It was especially surprising because Dillon's No. 10 Chevrolet was one of the slowest cars in practice, ranking 35th-fastest out of 36 cars and over a second off the pace of the fastest driver, Ross Chastain. Now DFS managers have to ask themselves, is Ty Dillon worth the risk on Sunday due to his good track position to start the race? At just $5,100 on DraftKings, he may seem like a compelling dirt-cheap option, but considering he's never finished better than 20th in the Next Gen car at Las Vegas makes it hard to think that Dillon won't have a negative place differential on Sunday. You should use Dillon sparingly in your DFS lineups, if at all this weekend.

Could Ty Dillon Be A Deep Sleeper At COTA?
2 weeks agoIf you're looking for a cheap option on DraftKings this weekend at Circuit of the Americas, don't overlook Ty Dillon. The Kaulig Racing driver starts way back in 34th for Sunday's afternoon's EchoPark Automotive Grand Prix, and he has 21st- and 20th-place finishes to his credit at this track (back in 2021 and 2022, respectively). Dillon isn't a top-tier option at road courses, by any means, but he's a capable driver in decent equipment. Back in 2023, he finished 23rd at Sonoma, and also ran 16th at Watkins Glen in 2022. Ty posted the 19th-fastest lap during the second practice session on Saturday afternoon. If you need to save some cap space with your DraftKings lineup this weekend, Ty Dillon ($5,100) just may be your guy.

Ty Dillon A Low-Tier Fantasy Option At Atlanta
3 weeks agoTy Dillon will roll off the starting grid from 20th for the Ambetter Health 400 at Atlanta Motor Speedway this weekend, a week after the Kaulig Racing driver posted a 14th-place finish in the season-opening Daytona 500. Dillon will be looking to replicate that run this weekend at Atlanta, where he recently finished 19th and 23rd at while driving for Spire Motorsports during the 2023 season. On DraftKings, Ty will cost DFS players just $5,900 against the salary cap, but his limited Place Differential upside severely limits his playability on this slate. Although there are definitely scenarios that Dillon could sneak into the top 10 on Sunday, he's much more likely to run mid-pack, and there are better cheap DFS options on this slate.

Ty Dillon Overachieves This Week
4 weeks agoTy Dillon starts seventh in Sunday's Daytona 500 after finishing third in the first duel race at Daytona. He was directly behind Bubba Wallace on the final lap of the race until he switched lanes to pick up his Kaulig Racing teammate A.J. Allmendinger to attempt to draft around Wallace for the win. Unfortunately, he made slight contact with the wall, but he had unusual speed in the race. The speed he showed in his Duel race, along with Kaulig's general speed on superspeedways, suggests it may be valuable to make a nominal wager on him at 70-1 for the win. But the fact that he is starting so much better than he typically finishes, means he is unlikely to score enough points to make him a worthwhile option for DFS, even though the fact that he is the second-cheapest driver in the field at $5,400 might make it tempting on the surface.

Ty Dillon Surprisingly Battles For The Win In First Duel Race
1 month agoAlthough Ty Dillon has always been lightly regarded, he matched his best-ever NASCAR Cup Series finish of third on his full-time debut with Kaulig Racing in Thursday's first Duel race. He has had moments on drafting tracks before and earned both of his top-five finishes in point races at Daytona and Talladega and even earned a stage win at Talladega in 2022, and it certainly helps that Kaulig has a history of focusing particularly on drafting tracks. But it was not expected that he would outrun his veteran teammate A.J. Allmendinger, nor that he would arguably pose one of the stoutest challenges to Bubba Wallace, who eventually won the duel. Dillon was in fact the only driver other than Wallace who led in the last 21 laps, as they changed the lead four times, including twice in the last eight laps.
