Adolis Garcia On Track To Serve As DH On Thursday
17 hours agoTexas Rangers manager Bruce Bochy said that outfielder Adolis Garcia (oblique) will get at-bats on the back fields at camp on Tuesday, and if all goes well, he will serve as the designated hitter in a Cactus League game by Thursday against the San Francisco Giants. The 32-year-old veteran is recovering from a Grade 1 left-oblique strain, but as long as he doesn't suffer a setback when he returns to game action, he'll have enough time to get ready for Opening Day in several weeks. The Cuban outfielder had the worst season of his career in 2024, but that consisted of a .224/.284/.400 slash line, .684 OPS, 25 home runs, 85 RBI, 11 stolen bases and 68 runs scored in 154 games played. Regaining his plate discipline and staying healthy will be key, but Garcia hits the ball hard enough and is in a good enough lineup for a bounce-back as a No. 3/4 fantasy outfielder.
