Lazaro Montes Flashing Upside At Spring Training
16 seconds agoSeattle Mariners outfield prospect Lazaro Montes has gone 4-for-9 with a double and two home runs during his first taste of spring training. Montes has tallied six RBI and held a 3:3 BB:K ratio. He is one of just three Mariners who have gone deep at least twice during camp. Montes has only seen time in the lower levels of the minor leagues but has performed very well. Last summer, Montes opened the season by seeing his first extended look at Single-A. Across 65 games, Montes held a stellar .309/.411/.527 slash line with 13 doubles, 13 home runs and one stolen base. He held a 43:59 BB:K ratio. He then earned a promotion to High-A where he posted a strong .260/.378/.427 line with eight doubles and eight home runs across 51 games. If Montes continues this strong play during camp, he could push for an early season promotion to Double-A.
