Agustin Ramirez 2025 Fantasy Baseball Outlook: Marlins Primary Catcher?
Agustin Ramirez was one of the hottest hitting prospects in baseball over the first few months of the season, mashing home runs in what felt like every other game. The trade deadline rolled around, and we saw Ramirez be moved to Miami as part of the Jazz Chisholm trade. Ramirez settled in nicely to his new Triple-A home in Jacksonville over the final month of the year. Overall for the year, Ramirez mashed 25 home runs and had 53 extra-base hits while posting a strong .267/.358/.487 slash line. He struck out in just 18 percent of his plate appearances and posted respectable contact rates of around 75 percent overall and 84 percent in-zone. Ramirez walked at a rate north of 11 percent, chasing just 26 percent of pitches out of the zone. The power is legitimate, and the exit velocity data backs it. Ramirez posted a 90th percentile exit velocity near 107 mph and hit some impressive home runs. The biggest issue is the swing can get a bit flat at times, leading to far too many ground balls. The air percentage was just 52.5 percent this year, but it went a long way when Ramirez lifted the ball to the pull-side. Around 44 percent of his pulled batted balls were in the air. The Marlins lack any catching depth on their roster, with Nick Fortes slated to be the starter and Rule 5 selection Liam Hicks on the bench. Hicks won't stick, and Ramirez will be the starting catcher early in the season, making him worth a late-round flier in deep-league two-catcher formats.

Agustin Ramirez Hits First Career Home Run In Multi-Hit Effort
Agustin Ramirez kept on hitting on Friday, going 2-for-4 with a double, a home run, two RBI, and a run scored in the 8-4 win over the Mariners. The home run was his first, and it marked the third consecutive multi-hit performance to begin his big league career. Not only that, the 23-year-old has drawn two free passes and has yet to strike out in 12 plate appearances. The Marlins' fourth-ranked prospect is making good on the promise he showed in the minors and is looking like a fantasy stud so far, now 7-for-10 (.700) with five of the seven hits going for extra bases. The Dominican backstop has also stolen a base, somewhat of a rarity for catchers, and is eligible at both C and 1B on Yahoo!, making him all the more appealing. His rostership stands at 31 percent, but is worth a roster spot in all formats until he proves otherwise.

Agustin Ramirez Sitting Out After Hot Start
Agustin Ramirez has burst on the MLB scene in his first few games this week, but he'll get the day off for Wednesday's series finale against the Cincinnati Reds at loanDepot Park. Liam Hicks is doing the catching for right-hander Sandy Alcantara and will bat seventh against Reds right-hander Brady Singer. In his first two major-league games, Ramirez has come out swinging, going 5-for-6 with three doubles, an RBI, stolen base, run scored, two walks and no strikeouts. It will be impossible for the 23-year-old backstop to keep that kind of pace up, but he has quickly earned considerable playing time for the lowly Marlins alongside Hicks. Hicks is also in his rookie season with Miami and has slashed .239/.321/.348 with a .669 OPS, one homer, two doubles, 11 RBI and five runs scored in his first 17 games played.

Agustin Ramirez Hits Two Doubles On Tuesday
Agustin Ramirez went 3-for-3 with two doubles, an RBI, and a walk during their 4-3 victory over the Cincinnati Reds on Tuesday evening. Ramirez made his MLB debut on Monday and has enjoyed an impressive start to his MLB career. Over his first two games, Ramirez has gone 5-for-6 with three doubles, two walks, one stolen base, and no strikeouts. Given his impressive start, fantasy managers should expect the No. 4-ranked prospect in the Miami system to continue to see the majority of starts behind the dish. Earlier in the season, Ramirez held a solid .252/.313/.479 slash line with seven doubles and three long balls in just 19 games. Last season, Ramirez hit 25 home runs and swiped 22 bags in 126 MiLB games. Given his five-category upside at the catcher position, he should be viewed as a strong option in standard formats heading into his matchup on Wednesday against Cincinnati right-hander Brady Singer.

Agustin Ramirez Draws Another Start, Batting Fourth On Tuesday
Agustin Ramirez will get another start behind the dish on Tuesday and will bat cleanup. The 23-year-old made his MLB debut on Monday and went 2-for-3 with a double, a walk, a run scored, and a stolen base. The double registered at 110.4 mph off the bat, displaying the power that the 6-foot-1 backstop brings to the table, and the stolen base made good on the baserunning prowess he's shown during his time in the minors. Liam Hicks will sit for the third straight game and could become the backup to Ramirez if the latter continues to hit. Ramirez is worth adding in most leagues given his stolen-base potential at the catcher position, and his dual eligibility at both C and 1B on Yahoo! provides some added fantasy appeal.
