Even though the Rangers dominated the shot total, Knies was able to break the stalemate in the third period when he beat New York netminder Igor Shesterkin on a wrist shot. Knies also logged one hit and blocked shot in this contest. This outing snapped Knies's four-game goal drought. During this minor slump, Knies tallied just one helper and averaged one shot on goal per game. However, before this skid, the 22-year-old tallied nine points (five goals, four helpers) with two shots on goal per game with 2.3 hits per game.
