Boston Bruins center Matthew Poitras (lower body) could be cleared to suit up on Saturday to face the Pittsburgh Penguins. Head coach Joe Sacco noted that the 20-year-old forward was able to practice on Friday and could be eligible to return. Poitras sustained this injury during Thursday's loss to the New York Islanders. However, seeing him participate in practice a day later suggests this injury is not very serious. Fantasy managers should monitor his status leading up to Saturday's contest as he could be avoid an absence. Over his previous seven contests, Poitras has tallied four points (all helpers) and held a +3 rating with eight shots on goal, two hits, and three blocked shots. If he were cleared to face Pittsburgh, Poitras would likely return to his role as the team's No. 3 center.--Andy Smith - RotoBaller

Boston Bruins center Matthew Poitras (undisclosed) has officially been ruled out for Tuesday's season opener against Florida. He was already iffy for the contest with an undisclosed ailment, and the young forward hasn't recovered in time for the first game of the season. However, Poitras practiced on Monday in a non-contact jersey, meaning he should not miss too much action at the start of the campaign. Once he's ready to go, Poitras is expected to center Boston's third line. He won't be a very attractive fantasy piece in the role.--Taavi Pailk - RotoBaller

Boston Bruins forward Matthew Poitras (undisclosed) remains day-to-day and could be in danger of missing the season opener on Tuesday evening, according to Scott McLaughlin of The Skate Pod. Poitras has only been able to play in three preseason games so far but participated in full throughout the development camp earlier this offseason. The 20-year-old's rookie campaign was cut short after he suffered a season-ending shoulder injury in February. It is yet to be known if this injury has resurfaced. Through his first 33 games in the NHL, the former second-round pick tallied five goals and ten assists. Fantasy managers in deeper formats should continue to hold on to Poitras, as he should have a consistent spot within the Boston top 9 and showed some offensive upside in his rookie campaign.--Andy Smith - RotoBaller

Boston Bruins forward Matthew Poitras underwent shoulder surgery on Wednesday and will miss the rest of the 2023-24 campaign. The 19-year-old completes the year with 15 points (five goals, 10 assists) in 33 games. Poitras had his best spell early in the season when he was a top-six regular. He's shown very good potential, and general manager Don Sweeney has called Poitras a "key part" of Boston's future. The young forward is expected to recover in five months, meaning he should be fully ready for the start of 2024-25.--Taavi Pailk - RotoBaller
