Kris Bubic 2025 Fantasy Baseball Outlook: Hoping To Maintain 2024 Dominance As A Starter
9 hours agoKansas City Royals starting pitcher Kris Bubic returned from Tommy John surgery in a relief role in 2024, where he looked like a completely transformed pitcher. He posted a 2.67 ERA and 1.00 WHIP in 30 1/3 innings pitched, striking out a whopping 32.3% of the batters he faced. If he had enough innings to qualify, he would have ranked in the 95th percentile or better in xERA, xBA, barrel rate, and ground ball rate, to name a few. Now, in 2025, the Royals are stretching him back out into a starter, where he hopes to continue his success. It won't be easy, as most pitchers see a significant velocity decrease when moving from the bullpen to the rotation. Also, Bubic's career-high innings is only 130, and he's pitched 46 1/3 innings in the past two years combined. It will be worth monitoring his starts in the spring to see if his velocity holds up because he could be a very intriguing sleeper if it does. He'll also have RP eligibility, giving him extra value in H2H points leagues where you can use him instead of a closer. Bubic is the leading candidate to be Kansas City's fifth starter, and ATC is projecting a 4.18 ERA, 1.32 WHIP, and 93 strikeouts over 97 innings in 2025.
