Nick Madrigal Placed On 60-Day Injured List
24 seconds agoThe New York Mets have placed second baseman Nick Madrigal (shoulder) on the 60-day injured list. This transaction opened a spot on the roster for outfielder Alexander Canario, who the team acquired in a trade from the Chicago Cubs on Monday. Madrigal suffered a fractured shoulder during Sunday's spring training contest. He was initially diagnosed with a dislocated shoulder, but testing revealed further damage. As a result, fantasy managers should expect Madrigal to be sidelined for the foreseeable future. Earlier in the offseason, the infielder signed a one-year contract with the Mets to serve as depth infielder. With Madrigal sidelined, fantasy managers should expect infield prospect Luisangel Acuna to be given significant opportunity during camp to earn a spot on the Opening Day roster. During his brief at the majors last season, he held a .308/.325/.641 line across 14 contests.
