Quinn Priester To Start Grapefruit League Opener On Saturday
1 day agoBoston Red Sox right-hander Quinn Priester, who was acquired at last year's trade deadline from the Pittsburgh Pirates for Nick Yorke, is scheduled to start the team's Grapefruit League opener on Saturday against the division-rival Tampa Bay Rays. If the Red Sox need an extra starter to open the 2025 season, Priester will be an option out of Triple-A Worcester. In addition to Priester, the Red Sox have additional starting depth in Richard Fitts and Cooper Criswell. Michael Fulmer (elbow) is also an option while recovering from Tommy John surgery. Left-hander Garrett Crochet will start on Sunday against the division-rival Toronto Blue Jays. Because he's likely to spend the majority of the 2025 season on the farm in the minors, Priester can be ignored in all mixed fantasy leagues this spring.
