2 months agoBaltimore Orioles general manager Mike Elias said the team is expecting big things from third base prospect Coby Mayo in 2025. "I think the fact that he got his debut out of the way is a really good thing," Elias said. "I think that's big for young hitters these days. He's somebody that we think is poised to be a huge contributor this year, so we'll give him a strong look and every opportunity." The 23-year-old hit .287 with 23 doubles, 22 homers, 67 RBI and a .925 OPS in 89 games in the International League in the minors, but he went 4-for-41 (.098) with no homers and 22 strikeouts in 46 trips to the plate in his first 17 big-league games late in the year. He's working to improve his glove this spring and will stay at the corners in camp, but he's not guaranteed an Opening Day roster spot, and his future in Baltimore could be at first base.
