We've never seen a college football player like Travis Hunter, which is both a blessing and a curse for fantasy football.
Sure, players like Champ Bailey and Charles Woodson excelled on both sides of the football. Neither caught 96 passes for 1,258 yards and 15 touchdowns while logging four interceptions.
Hunter will hear his name called very early in the 2025 NFL Draft, possibly first, but does that mean fantasy managers should spend their top pick on Hunter in dynasty rookie drafts? Let's dive in.

Should I Pick Travis Hunter In 2025 Rookie Fantasy Football Drafts?
Travis Hunter played 1,443 snaps for the Buffaloes last season as Shedeur Sanders' go-to receiver and a lockdown cornerback. As valuable and talented as a wideout, he's equally, if not better, on defense. The Heisman Trophy winner allowed just over 200 yards to opposing receivers.
Travis Hunter vs Kobe Hudson
Hudson caught just one pass, a slant target where he attacked the ball before making two guys miss (looks like Hunter faked a jam mid-stem), but he fought off contact well

Fantasy managers yearn for Hunter to pair with Drake Maye or Trevor Lawrence and become a fantasy football star. Even if New England or Jacksonville selects him, both teams need defense. The Jaguars allowed the most passing yards per game last season. Hunter would form a lethal pair with Christian Gonzalez.
That makes Hunter a risky fantasy football selection, especially with the first overall pick. He could easily be the best receiver in this year's class. He could just as easily see a handful of offensive snaps per game. His impact on the field will be felt by whichever team drafts him. That may not translate to a worthwhile fantasy points per game average.
