2 months agoJason Day has gotten off to a solid start in 2025. The golfer from Australia tied for third at The American Express and broke into the top 15 at Pebble Beach. Day has only had one win since 2020, and that was two years ago at the Byron Nelson. However, this has been the healthiest Day we have seen in years, from a mental and physical standpoint. At the Farmers Insurance Open, Day did shoot a 74 and 76 to open and close his week. That was a big reason Day did not contend. Day birdied the 72nd hole on the Torrey Pines South Course but had five bogeys before then including three on the back nine. Day is a long shot here, but he does learn from his mistakes well.--Chris Wassel - RotoBaller

2 weeks agoJason Day has not had it easy since COVID. The Australian golfer has seen his world ranking rise into the Top 40 (36th). Day has a couple of Top 10 results in 2025 and not missed a single cut as well. Day may be 37 but he is golfing like he is 27. His best finish at The Masters is that runner-up in 2011. That was his debut. Since then, Day has two other Top 5 results. For awhile. Day looked like he might have to retire with several different injuries and issues. However, Day persevered and is enjoying one of his better seasons with a 69.98 scoring average (26th on tour). The chances of a Top 10 finish is decent enough to consider in the +450 to +500 range. With calmer weather, Day has a chance to not get too battered and make more birdies. --Chris Wassel - RotoBaller

4 weeks agoJason Day finished tied for eighth at the Arnold Palmer Invitational earlier this month and is now focusing on preparing for this week's Texas Children's Houston Open, held at Memorial Park Golf Course. So far in 2025, he has not missed a cut, although he did miss the cut at this event last year. Over the past 12 months, Day ranks in the 29th percentile for proximity to the hole on approach shots from 150-200 yards in the fairway. This is noteworthy because, at last year's Texas Children's Houston Open, over 38% of approach shots came from this distance. Day may go overlooked in fantasy lineups this week, but including him carries some risk.--Ian Christenson - RotoBaller

1 month agoJason Day finished tied for eighth at last week's Arnold Palmer Invitational and aims to maintain his strong play for this week's The PLAYERS Championship at TPC Sawgrass. He hasn't missed the cut in any of his seven starts this year and has three top-10 finishes. Day has had mixed results at The PLAYERS Championship in previous years, finishing T35 in 2024, T19 in 2023, and missing the cut in 2022. Notably, at last year's The PLAYERS Championship, over 32% of approach shots came from 100-150 yards. In the past 12 months, Day has ranked in the 61st percentile for greens in regulation percentage on approach shots from this distance in the fairway. Given his excellent form, he could be a valuable addition to DFS lineups this week.--Ian Christenson - RotoBaller

2 months agoComing off a disappointing T50 finish at the Genesis Invitational in February, Jason Day is making another start at Bay Hill. A winner here in 2016, there have been way more examples of good golf than bad, which he'll need to lean into to build some positive momentum before next week's Players Championship. Unfortunately, his ball striking has been slowly declining since the start of the season. The 37-year-old Aussie had gained strokes on approach in all of his first four events at an average of +1.055 and gained strokes off the tee in his last three starts at an average of +0.493 before the Genesis. However, he lost strokes in both metrics there. Bay Hill is luckily a much different animal than Torrey Pines, but the play off the tee will certainly have to come back in form if he hopes to have a chance.--Todd McGill - RotoBaller
