Nolan Arenado 2025 Fantasy Baseball Outlook: Looking To Get Back On Track In 2025
16 mins agoSt. Louis Cardinals third baseman Nolan Arenado had an up-and-down season in 2024. During the 2024 season, Arenado posted a .272/.325/.394 slash line with 16 home runs, 70 runs scored, and 71 RBI in 635 plate appearances. What is more concerning for Arenado's outlook heading into the 2025 season is his slugging percentage of .394 in the 2024 season, the lowest of his 12-year career. Although Arenado's offensive production was down, he still remains one of the best defensive third basemen in the league. He ranks in the 95th percentile in Range (OAA), a metric measuring how many outs a fielder has saved. In addition, he ranks in the 88th percentile in whiff percentage and 92nd percentile in strikeout percentage. While he is putting the ball in play, he is not making the best contact, which is proven by his hard hit percentage (12th), barrel percentage (sixth), and exit velocity (ninth), all ranking in the bottom 15th percentile. Arenado is currently on a nine-year, $275M contract through 2027. He already blocked a potential trade to the Houston Astros in the offseason, but he's reportedly willing to waive his no-trade clause to play with the Boston Red Sox. Perhaps a change of scenery is what the eight-time All-Star needs, but in the meantime, fantasy managers will want to proceed with caution and not overdraft the aging third-baseman. He ranks 209.0 ADP on the NFBC, corresponding with the 224 overall ranking at RotoBaller.
