According to Katie Woo of The Athletic, outfielder Tommy Pham signed a one-year deal with the Pittsburgh Pirates worth $4 million. Pham opened the 2024 season with the Chicago White Sox and was eventually shipped to St. Louis and then concluded the season in Kansas City. Across 116 contests, Pham held a .248/.305/.368 line. He tallied 20 doubles, nine home runs, and seven stolen bases. Under the hood, the 36-year-old generated a solid .263 xBA and a .407 xSLG, suggesting he should see some positive regression in 2025. Pham also generated a 42.7 percent hard-hit rate, which was above the average mark. At the plate, Pham held a 7.3 percent walk and a 22.2 percent strikeout rate which were both just below the average marks. Fantasy managers should expect Pham to compete for starts in right field with Nick Yorke as a platoon bat or see time as a designated hitter alongside Andrew McCutchen.--Andy Smith - RotoBaller

Pittsburgh Pirates catcher Joey Bart and outfielder Tommy Pham will start Tuesday's game against the division-rival St. Louis Cardinals on the bench at Busch Stadium. Henry Davis is catching and hitting ninth, while Alexander Canario will start in left field and bat fifth against Cardinals left-hander Matthew Liberatore. Although Bart has just one long ball on the season in 87 at-bats, he's done well as Pittsburgh's primary catcher with a strong .276 average (24-for-87) with seven RBI, seven runs and a stolen base. The 28-year-old will take a seat after starting the last four games. Pham could use a rest after going 2-for-18 of late as the team's primary left fielder. Canario is starting to see more playing time of late with Pham slumping, though. Davis has never faced Liberatore in his career, while Canario is hitless against him in just three at-bats.--Keith Hernandez - RotoBaller

Pittsburgh Pirates outfielder Tommy Pham (illness) was removed from Friday's game early at PNC Park versus the visiting New York Yankees due to an illness. Pham is being treated and is considered day-to-day. Pham was replaced in left field by Alexander Canario after going hitless in his only plate appearance with a groundout in the second inning. We'd be surprised if the 37-year-old is in the starting lineup for Saturday's second game of the series. In addition to the illness, it's been a rough start to the 2025 season for Pham, who came into Friday's contest hitting .087 (2-for-23) in the early going with a double, three stolen bases, three walks and eight strikeouts in 27 plate appearances over seven games played. Hopefully Pham will be feeling good enough for the start of a new series on Monday against the division-rival St. Louis Cardinals.--Keith Hernandez - RotoBaller

Pittsburgh Pirates outfielders Andrew McCutchen and Tommy Pham are not in Saturday's starting lineup. Instead, Bryan Reynolds will serve as the designated hitter, which will open right field for Jack Suwinski. With Pham sitting out, Ji-Hwan Bae will cover left field. Through the first two games of the season, McCutchen has gone 1-for-7 with a double, an RBI, and a walk. Pham has also had a modest output in the batter's box, going 1-for-8 at the plate. However, Pham has swiped a bag in each of the first two games and added a double. Last season, Suwinski posted a .182/.264/.324 slash line with nine home runs and nine stolen bases. Bae struggled across his brief 29-game stint in the majors last season, holding a .189 AVG. Neither player should be targeted in DFS facing Miami right-hander Valente Bellozo.--Andy Smith - RotoBaller

Pittsburgh Pirates outfielder Tommy Pham (hip) was removed early during Sunday's spring training contest. Pham went 1-for-2 at the plate before exiting the contest due to left hip tightness. The severity of the injury is unknown right now, but Pham will likely undergo additional testing. Fantasy managers should expect another update on Pham after the testing is completed. Pham signed with Pittsburgh over the offseason after hitting .248/.305/.368 with nine home runs and 39 RBI with three different teams last season.--Andy Webb - RotoBaller
