Los Angeles Angels outfielder Taylor Ward started and ended strong in 2024, but sandwiched in the middle were two excruciating months of futility. The former first-round draft pick hit .181 with five home runs over 175 at-bats (35 AB/HR) in June and July, but he hit .276 with 20 home runs over 410 at-bats (21 AB/HR) outside of those two months. In the end, the right-handed hitter put up a respectable stat line of .246-25-75-73-6, but the prolonged slump may have forced some managers to cut bait, thus missing out on his late-season resurgence. Nevertheless, the veteran proved he could be durable, playing in 156 games, while the HR, RBI, R, and SB totals were all career-bests. With a career Barrel% of 10.8 percent and after recording a 13.0 percent Barrel% in 2024, another 25 home runs are attainable in 2025, with ATC projections forecasting a .251-24-73-81-7 line with a .333 wOBA and 116 wRC+. That's likely the rosiest of outcomes, however, leaving only downside risk, which is why RotoBaller is a little less optimistic of the 31-year-old, ranking him at 192 overall, slightly lower than his NFBC ADP of 185.--Jarod Rupp - RotoBaller

Los Angeles Angels outfielder Taylor Ward had a solid night at the plate in an 8-3 victory Tuesday over the Toronto Blue Jays. Ward finished 2-for-3 with a two-run home run, a walk, and an additional run scored in Tuesday's win. He blasted a two-run shot off Blue Jays pitcher Jose Urena in the first inning, which traveled 419 feet and left the bat at 106.4 mph, kicking off the scoring for the Angels. It was his seventh long ball of the season. Ward has struggled to find consistency in a banged-up Angels lineup this season, slashing just .188/.234/.391 with a .625 OPS. He will look to find more production as the Angels try to climb in the AL West.--Julian Brooke - RotoBaller

Los Angeles Angels outfielder Taylor Ward is getting his first day off on Wednesday afternoon when the Angels face the Seattle Mariners. Ward has gone 0-for-13 with a 5:2 K:BB over his last four games and will get a day to reset. As a result, Gustavo Campero will get the nod in left field and bat in the seven-hole. Infielder Zach Neto will move up to the leadoff spot with Ward sitting out. However, before this slump, Ward held a modest .231/.259/.577 slash line with three doubles and five home runs over his last 13 games. Fantasy managers should expect Ward to return to the starting nine on Thursday when they begin a series against the Detroit Tigers. This afternoon, the Angels are worth targeting in DFS, facing the Mariners, who will send Emerson Hancock to the mound, who enters this game with a 7.71 ERA.--Andy Smith - RotoBaller

Los Angeles Angels outfielder Taylor Ward came into Thursday's series finale against the hosting Tampa Bay Rays with a .196 average (9-for-46) with a homer and three RBI in his first 11 games this year. Ward turned things around in a big way at the plate in the 11-1 win over Tampa, though, going 3-for-5 with two home runs, two runs scored and three RBI to raise his season average to .235 and his OPS to .704. The 31-year-old led off the game with a solo, opposite-field shot before adding a two-run bomb in the fifth inning. He's clearly heating up, as he now has three home runs in his last two games in Tampa. Fantasy managers liked what they saw from Ward against the Rays and will be hoping he can keep it going as the Halos head to Houston for a weekend series against the division-rival Astros.--Keith Hernandez - RotoBaller

Los Angeles Angels outfielder Taylor Ward (knee) is back in Thursday's Cactus League lineup against the division-rival Seattle Mariners and is serving as the designated hitter and batting leadoff. Ward developed some knee soreness in camp earlier in the week but will be returning to the lineup for the first time since Monday after several days off. The 31-year-old veteran has only played in four Cactus League games to this point, but he's swung a hot bat, going 3-for-8 with a double, RBI and a run scored. He will be L.A.'s regular left fielder yet again in 2025 and could benefit from a fantasy perspective if Mike Trout can stay healthy all year with his move to right field. In his seventh year with the Halos in 2024, Ward had a career-high 25 home runs and 75 RBI while slashing .246/.323/.426 in 663 plate appearances to make him a top-40 fantasy outfielder.--Keith Hernandez - RotoBaller
