Jack Flaherty 2025 Fantasy Baseball Outlook: Back In AL Central Is A Plus, But Late-Season Drop-Off Concerning
11 hours agoThe Detroit Tigers will reunite with starting pitcher Jack Flaherty for the 2025 season, hoping he can rekindle the success he had in 18 starts for the team last year before getting shipped off to the Dodgers. The veteran righty went 7-5 with a 2.95 ERA (2.60 xFIP), 0.96 WHIP, and an elite 27.5 percent K-BB% over 106 2/3 innings pitched. He wasn't nearly as dominant in 10 regular season starts with the Dodgers, posting a 3.58 ERA (3.77 xFIP), 1.28 WHIP, and a 17.9 percent K-BB%, while allowing at least four earned runs in three of five postseason starts. It's possible the former first-round draft pick's arm wore down after logging his most IP since 2019, which was also evidenced by a drop in velocity. Some could be attributed to the competition within the NL West, the division that averaged the most runs/game (4.77), compared to the AL Central, the division that averaged the fewest runs/game (4.17). Being back in the AL Central should enhance his outlook, although ATC projections forecast a 10-8 record with a 3.90 ERA, 1.23 WHIP, and 18.2 percent K-BB%. RotoBaller ranks the 29-year-old at 139 overall, right around his NFBC ADP of 141.
